A sense of palpable excitement was in the air in the run up to the event’s final keynote as it was announced that California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger was to join Oracle CEO Larry Ellison on stage. Governor Schwarzenegger discussed how technology is a key driver of California’s economy, and inherent to the state’s innovative spirit. Also in the keynote, Larry Ellison restated the importance of Oracle Exadata Server V2 and the Sun Oracle Database machine, re-issued a $10 Million challenge to the industry to match Oracle’s performance, launched an innovative approach to maintenance and support, and previewed Oracle’s next generation of Applications, Fusion Applications. Photographs from the keynote can be found on the Oracle OpenWorld 2009 Flickr site.
